I agree Paul.
Thanks Paul and Katy. Here’s my sketch today - this time a lady in a cafe.
I’m afraid, I’ve overdone the sketching today (I’m  in a Tier 3 area and the weather not great), so I decided to pick 2 photos that I’ve always liked - for some unknown reason - and sketch them. They were both difficult subjects, with lots of detail, but I enjoyed the process of sketching them and found that they helped me loosen up my drawing.. not sure they look that great, but I enjoyed doing them. Hope these help to kick start this new thread. The first is a flea market in Brussels. I first discovered the market on a Sunday morning in the 70’s and revisited earlier in the year before lockdown. Have to say, it was far more interesting in the 70’s - you could buy all sorts of very unusual things. Now it’s just junk. The second is a view up a alley in Hastings. It’s obviously someone’s garden.
Flying start from everyone and great sketches to start the month off. I'm not having much luck with faces and portraits so I decided to look at anatomy. Looking at the skull might start getting the proportions right in my head. I also realize, you need to walk before you can run. I plan to keep sketching skulls for a bit till I get it right. Hopefully as the month goes on, you will see some improvement.
I think the eye sockets should have been larger looking at it in here now.
Denise, portraits are hard, which I why I don’t draw pictures of anyone I know yet. They never look like them and I find it very disheartening. Pictures of strangers, however, aren’t so critical. Practice makes perfect, so I hope to get there (slowly) and will try drawings of the family when I more confident. By the way, I like the skull - looks like someone I know.
Some great sketch’s over the past day or so, I think that Yorick  alas . A watercolour sketch of acorns from me today, I’m using up the odd bits of watercolour paper that’s in my box and the paint that’s in the pallet.

Looks good Paul. Great use of odds and ends.
I decided to do some painting today, but haven’t finished, so I took a break and got out a pen to sketch this figure.
Really good pencil sketches , and lovely acorns Dixie. I like the skull Denise, but try not to make them to round. Nothing from me today, but I have been a good boy, and I am sketching the 12 days of Christmas.
Denise, super skull, quite tricky to draw I would think, and Dixie really pretty acorns. Also Paul I really like your figure sketches, great character and movement. We just took delivery of our weekly supermarket shop, so this is my quick sketch of the driver from memory! Obviously he’s not around long enough to draw properly from life!
