Heather, I must admit that I thought that it was a photograph, I’ve enlarged it and it still does! The hair and blurred background in particular, I’d love to see the uncropped original.

I had looked several times  at it Heather and wondered.  It’s an excellent painting ,very clever you.  Maybe we should set a new challenge a self portrait .  I’ve done various dreadful  things looking at my self in the mirror.

Thanks Alan and Sylvia - the actual self portrait is on my gallery.   I'm up for a challenge in this direction Sylvia - maybe a time limit of 4 hours like PA of the Y?  Am just starting using oils and nearly finishing a portrait (another one) of my husband.  Boy, is the switch from acrylics to oils a steep learning curve.

Sylvia I’m absolutely c- - p at portraits and have never tried a self portrait, but will give it a go as long as you don’t laugh to loud, and are kind about it. I’m not pitting my self up against Heather for any thing to do with painting.

Thanks everyone for your vote of confidence but if I am any good at all it's because I take hours and hours and make so many mistakes (I'm dreadful at drawing) … you should see the outtakes!  And now having to deal with that slippery medium of oil, oh my!

Great we have some takers...bring it on.  We also have some excellent portrait artists in this group so please don’t laugh at the attempts of us lesser mortals Just to make it easier for me I’m going to use a photo....what,  a photo I hear .  But all my mirror self portraits are dire...really dire.   Anymore...going to have a go.  .?
