That looks an amazing place Gillian, not sure I’d want to walk the path though! Mine is a line and wash of the local church, from a photo taken ages ago. I could have stepped out 100 yards and done it plein air but like you I’m too shy, especially where people know me.
Lovely paintings a sketches ladies, your putting me to shame. I have two paintings and a sketch on the go at the moment and I’m flipping between them. This is one I started on Thursday, my granddaughters came around and advised me on the colours, the youngest 4 yrs old thought I need help. Both the girls decided what the colours should be and I have instructions not to finish it till they come again next week. It’s from one of my old sketches that I re drew and added the old fuel pump. Oh it’s so good to have expert’s to advice when you are struggling along. Its great fun listing to them deciding how it should look and if the red is the right shade etc. I would paint more often if they where here.
Ha ha! Well they have a good eye for colour!
Nice church Katy,  I love old churches as they are all so different.  Agree with Katy about your grand daughters choice of colours Dixie!  Today I saw an old guy walking  along our riverside path . Here they walk the walk of the fathers! Always amuses me.
Really well depicted Gillian, the stance is just right.
Lovely old church Katy. Where is that? Dixie I like your stories of your grandchildren- you obviously have a lovely relationship with them! And Gillian that’s a smashing character drawing. I can just see him strolling along! This is an experiment with inktense bars and Tombow felt pens, brush and water.
Tessa, it’s our village church in Etton, north of Peterborough. I love the vase and flowers, I must put inktense on my shopping list.
Thanks Katy. The problem with art equipment is that you can just keep on buying!
Hi Tessa, just seen your flower painting, not seen inktense bars do you use them like watercolours? I have inktense brushes which I use with the water pen. This is another example using them.
Hi Linda these are my Inktense blocks or bars. As you can see I’ve broken some to use smaller, and sometimes use them flat as you might do pastels. Yes you can use them as you would watercolour pans and I sometimes do that, so they are quite versatile. Lovely fungi and frog by the way! I had what you might call a light bulb moment earlier, various pencils used A5 pad.
Linda, what a beautiful colour palette for your frog and fungi!   We could all do with light bulb moments like yours Tessa. There are so many different products on the market I would be like a child in a sweetie shop if I had the opportunity to visit a art shop! I find it interesting to read about the different media artists are experimenting with, so I have a growing wish list!
Tessa I am getting mixed up with inktense pencils and inkbrush pens, senior moment lol, I have both, the pencils I use like watercolour pencils and the inkbrush is completely different being acrylic ink, painted on and blended with the water brush. Gillian, you will want to try all different methods and mediums here on POL, when I first joined about 3 year ago, I was mainly using watercolour and gouache, since then with help and advice from some really talented people I have experimented with all different types of mediums and techniques, so happy painting!!
