After two months, I’ve stuck to my guns and am still doing a sketch a day! I’ve not missed a day as yet, but in fairness, these are only 15 minute sketches at most - we can all find 15 minutes can’t we?
Most haven’t been photographed because there isn’t any real point, they’re sketchbook scribbles in the main. All done in my Stillman & Birn Delta sketchbook.
So, why bother if nobody else will see them I here some of you say…first of all I feel better when I’ve been creative, I’m honing my drawing skills and many of these scribbles will come in useful for possible oil paintings during the long winter months, when I’m going to be confined to my studio…I can sit and construct a composition using my sketchbook for inspiration, sometimes plucking out individual components from multiple drawings!
I will add some sketches to this thread however, as and when I can!
There’s some lovely work posted on here recently , it’s a great long-running thread!

I agree with Paul, get them in a book Al, I’ll be your first customer!
Love your hens and ducks Sylvia.
What I like about sketchbooks is it doesn’t matter, if in my case, it’s rubbish which it generally is but it’s a scribble to capture a moment, a memory etc.
Most of my sketches are for still life subjects but I do the odd landscape sketch/scribble.
I’m embarrassed to show these! 😂

I'm somewhat surprised that Alan hasn't been approached by a publisher, to collate his paintings and sketches/drawings, on the basis of his immensely helpful articles. They contain more guidance and sense than - if one IS going to be quite honest - a great many books churned out by those who write, or tutor, only because they can't earn enough from their artwork: I'm not really criticizing them; this is not easy, never has been easy but is perhaps harder now than ever. But not all of them can write - this is no small skill, the ability to convey information pithily, succinctly, accurately - and Alan can do that.
I would speedily add any book he might write to my groaning shelves - and I know many of us who subscribe to the magazines and follow this website would do so as well. POL may not be into publishing books, but - they know those who do. Warners have more influence in these respects that we do as individuals, so I'm batting this over to their court in the hope they'll pick it up. Now - Alan may not want to commit the time to such a project - a book will require unifying text, editing, shaping; but he's well able to do that given his experience, if he should choose to.
OK, we've planted the seed: let's see if anyone is prepared to water and nurture it!
(I have been a journalist and am willing to help if needed - but am not looking for work, and don't think I WOULD be needed: still, on the offchance...)

IThanks for the encouragement guys, but it is unlikely to happen, unless of course, in the very unlikely event a publisher did approach me!
It would be a challenge for sure, and it can’t be simply a compilation of sketches and drawings, there has to be an underlying theme or a reason running through. Demonstrating my technique, in a variety of styles and medium. Numerous mark-making techniques inks and pens available.
Understanding the importance of tonal values, composition, perspective, when to add colour etc etc…so many areas of interest to cover.
Not all my work is this sketchy, I can do more controlled finished drawings when needed!
Work in progress examples would be helpful.
You’d need to set aside a full year at a guess, but that’s all pie in the sky of course, and I reckon you’d need 20k to self publish.

Very appealing work been posted, here, by everyone.
It does take a lot of time and money to publish. A leap of faith, and hope there'll be a good return on your investment. You could make your own art chapbook of your favorite work see how it goes, locally. I'm sure you'd have a few customers on here. Sylvia, did.
I too would buy your book Alan, just to look at your inspiring work, and the mention of the items you use to create them.
