I also agree about the girl as a memory.  I like the bird and love the handsome sailor!

A couple of quick pen sketches with white acrylic paint pen on grey paper A5.
Great sketching everyone. A quick charcoal sketch.
An oldie (1997) pen and ink sketch of a wooden milking shed on the Somerset Levels.
Excellent sketch Denise and  George . I haven’t done any sketch for a week or so dur to other priorities , this A4 basic sketch is for a pen and wash I’m attempting, not done one this big. I will add a little detail in pen later, I want to keep it as loose as possible.
I’ve added a bit more with the pen , looking at it I can’t decide wether to leave it as it is or add a little bit of colour.
I would simply add tone! This will give it a three-dimensional appearance which will work well here… Choose where your light is coming from, and work rigidly to that… including the corresponding cast shadows. Ideal with those boats! Perhaps something along these lines…
Alan I had already started to add colour when I noticed your message , I will certainly do another one as a pure pen sketch. As I added colour it reminded me of the illustrations that were in some of the older school books back Nina the 1950s decided I quite liked it, loved some of those old drawings.

I like the colour you've added Paul.
A quickish drawing... ...my grandson likes writing short stories, I may be doing a few drawings for them.  A cat is the villain  in one of them, so I need to make the cat more mischievous.
Wow Lew that’s great collaborating with your grandson like that , combination of family talents. Like this sketch and the cat does have a bit of a mischievous, sinister, don’t mess with me look .
This is so well done. Really cute.
