Been looking at the John Blockley site. He certainly could paint, so many wonderful images. I also love the  industrial watercolours , as a  miner’s granddaughter I am drawn to the ‘Pit top’ images. I am really impressed by his use of vibrant colours in watercolour!

If you like the work of John Blockley, you may also enjoy the work of Michael Morgan.  He was a great friend of John Blockley and painted in a very similar style, I think they often fed of each other’s ideas.

Thank you Alan would you like me to add him to the list, it will be a few weeks before he come up but worth the wait.

Yes please Paul.
Tessa, I like your selection - industrial with atmosphere.
Thank you Marjorie: yes I like a bit of industrial! Although I love the countryside and to see the changing of the seasons, I also like the challenge of something less pretty. Alan, I shall look up Michael Morgan.
Never heard of John Blockley, but then I guess to educate the uneducated is precisely the purpose of this thread. I very much admire watercolourists particularly those who are masters of their craft of which Mr Blockley  most definitely is.
Russell you have made my day , the reason I started the thread was s to enable other people to introduce us to artists  we may never have seen or heard of . My personal knowledge of artists is really very poor, over the past two weeks I have looked at and seen more artist and their work , than I ever have. I throughly enjoy this enlightenment, bit like a child with a new toy , It please me that someone else may be having the same learning  experience, I would the  thread was not started to educate the uneducated or to try to educate anyone but if that is happening as I find it is for me then that’s even better.
I think once again we have had two excellent artists to look at many thanks for taking part . I’m about yo set up next weeks artist , one chosen by Sylvia Evans and the other by myself . It not a easy task to choose,  there is no rush ad we have as much time as we want . I’ve changed my mind three times today . I have spent two week researching little known and well know artist to add to the list, it’s been great fun and very rewarding.
