A lovely selection of varied and excellent work Julie. Plenty to admire! I’ve been out this morning but will have a closer look later. Thanks for the intro.
Here are just a couple more to finish off the selection of Robert Taveners artwork. Those of you who have enjoyed his please look at my main selection again as I added to the original instead of a new posting. I will know how to do all this properly next time. Thank you for your patience.
Just love these three - they have such an appealing design element to them as well.
I concur wholeheartedly Jenny, three more stunning examples… so much to admire, both in design and skill factor!
I saved these three until last as they not only are beautiful in their design, they are also places I walked and ran with my Dad when I was younger, and he was still with us. My father was a printer, commercial not art wise, but he knew about the technical side. We would go to the Towner art gallery in Eastbourne together. These last three evoke fond memories of my Dad and the South Downs.
Such a fine artist - thank you for these, Julie: skill like his leaves one almost speechless, and - that's as well, really: let's just observe and enjoy.
Yes, this man is a class act.  Here's a few more I like.  His landscapes are great and when he paints people they are done with the same great style.
Super selection Lewis. I think the top collection were a set of cards (I wish),  that were sold at his posthumous exhibition at the Towner Art Gallery Eastbourne.  They are just lovely.  So glad you put them up x
Yes, I haven’t read about him in great depth, but ‘art cards’ are mentioned several times.  I wish I had a few of them.
Lewis I last went to the Towner art Gallery for the last time in July 2023 when I went to my mothers funeral. I no longer have any need to go to Eastbourne and its a very long way from where I live. I went to the gallery to have one last look at the paintings I loved so much. Also to buy some cards. Very bad show. No Robert Tavener at all. They had the book on his work, which I had before, but nothing else. I mainly went to say goodbye to Revillious. But I noticed no Tavener,  which I feel is bad marketing. I bought a set of Revillious cards, but really wanted the Tavener set. Don't get me wrong I love Revillious so much, but I think a corner devoted to Robert Tavener would be good. They both taught at the same college in the town.
There's a very good book about Tavener by Emma and Richard Mason called Robert Tavener  Printmaker and Illustrator Published by Bread and Butter Press. I've had a copy for a long time, so not sure if still in print.
I have restored your post Julie as it had been removed by the system , thought it was spam . I’ve not commented as yet as I’ve been away , you have done a good job of posting on the thread , it’s quite daunting the first time . Great artist and sone excellent work posted , I will have a look later today.
