I’m of the same opinion as Tony on this artist. I’m not particularly impressed with his paintings, with the exception of no 6 on Paul’s selection. Yes, I do quite like his drawings, a bit more energy and some have a look of an etching… I don’t think they are though!
Paul, just seen your comment - like you, I enjoy doing the research for artists that are new to me, but do appreciate that they won’t always be to others’ liking.  I often don’t comment if there’s an artist that really doesn’t appeal to me - and I’m afraid Mr. Twatchman’s doesn’t, although I do quite like the snow scene you’ve posted.  It can be a bit disheartening when hardly anyone comments and I sometimes wonder if people are losing interest in this series, but then again, people might be looking, but just not commenting, so it’s hard to tell.  I used to feel torn between feeling inspired by some of the artists we’ve seen and feeling totally despondent about my own work, but think I’ve got over that now - just have to accept that we all have our own individual styles and it doesn’t help to make comparisons!

How about this Twatchtman from my art calendar, I've been looking at for the last three days - its "Wildflowers" in pastel. It's gorgeous and the colours luminous. I think the colours just have not come over very well in the copies above, and so don't have the impact they would have in reality - I like his artwork very much - I know we all have different tastes and opinions!
That’s a lovely bright painting you posted Hilary. Up I have looked for some more of his sketch’s but can’t seem to find them but I was fortunate to come across some of his maritime work thst I do like .
Next weeks featuring artist are Rowland Hilder and Alphonse Mucha I will open the tread on Sunday evening as usual . Have a good weekend and stay safe .
Who’s doing Rowland Hilder? Not sure if it’s myself Paul…
Alan I would be more than pleased if you would do the intro on Sunday, I’m getting embarrassed the amount of times I do the intros I’m sure people must be getting fed up of me . I will open the thread about 5:30 on Sunday , it’s up to you what time you add your introduction. Thank you Alan
I certainly will Paul, I attended a masterclass in 1985 with him, so I will be delighted to give a short intro and showcase some of his wonderful watercolours.
I’m so looking forward to seeing your intro and the painting that you select. I can’t think of a better person to present his work and especially as you have actually met him .
Thanks Paul, I’ll try and find a few lesser known examples, including a couple of limited edition hand-coloured etchings from my own collection!

Cannot wait to see examples of Rowland Hilder, a true master in my eyes.
Rowland Hilder  was my original introduction to painting . I borrowed a book of his from our local library , 3 times , I had a go with paints given me by my daughters on my 50th birthday .  I realized early on that , for me , watercolours were too difficult , and eventually switched to oils .  But I still owe him a debt of gratitude .  Steve
