There are any number of marine artists from the RSMA I could add, but how about adding Ray  Balkwill S W A c.  I have spent many hours painting with him in Cornwall.   Evening Sky, Topsham.  Watercolour and Gouache. The Old Tug, Topsham  Watercolour and Gouache. Oil Mixed media Watercolour, Gouache and Soft Pastel Pretty much all of Rays work is done en Plein air with the odd tweak done in the studio.

Beautiful work - the top one my favourite. So many talented artists!
You're a lucky man, Alan!  What company to keep - I love his work, and the very typical Balkwill gulls, which would identify his work if nothing else did.
Thank you Robert, yes I am lucky.  Trouble is it’s not taught me to paint any better!  I just can’t do Plein air. But I have learnt much from him in many ways.
Wonderful work on display, and I agree that a themed approach now and then is a good idea.
Many wonderful images, Dixie. The fifth one down is a powerful monochromatic image, which looks like a full moon assault with the tracery of fire going in all directions, then in contrast to that, Marjorie's images of Robert Brindley's paintings of sunrise and sunset gondoliers. The many wonders of marine images in all their glory. Nice choice of subject, Dixie.

Thank you Carole there are some excellent painting featured and hopefully more to come . We can’t have  feature maritime artist without including one of the greatest   JMW Turner .just a few of his many .
Brilliant selection Paul, showcasing the talent of Turner… he painted so many nautical scenes, the choice is vast!
Another fabulous piece from Turner…
A classic painting of a place in which I should least like to be: if he painted THAT on scene, it's amazing he lived as long as he did.  The sheer power that man's brush could create is phenomenal.

Sorry, the first is by the master of light, Joaquin Sorolla…the following three by Julius Olsson, one of the founders of The St Ives Group.
