Well he's primarily known as a sculptor and I just picked him at random, but , yes add him to the list for some date in the future and I'll do the intro.
Thanks Andy , always good to have different people and different styles.
I feel you can tell Moore is a sculptor by his style/type of drawing.
Masterful sketch studies, Alan. Really enjoying the posts by everyone.
A few more classics to keep this going, I particularly like the one of the child being taught to walk!
Lovely selection there Tessa . I decided to go with contemporary artist for my final selection this morning five artists chosen at random all very different. 1 . Marcus Hodge 2. Hom Nguyen 3. Jusn Cris. 4. Oliver Sin 5.Elizabeth Cross
Excellent selection and variety of style Dixie.
Thanks Tessa I wanted to show different arts work . This will be my last selection but please do a more yourselves. Edward Duncan predominantly a marine artist who painted other scenes , I just love his sketches. No apology for including the colour sketch of mos on rock , I think it’s absolutely brilliant but then I’m a fan of his work.
This has been an interesting thread, with a wide view of what constitutes a 'sketch'.  The sketch can be the merest scribble, with the artist quickly trying to get down an idea, to highly detailed drawings...as this thread has shown.   Not that that matters a jot.   My selection falls firmly under the 'drawings' label.   At some point a sketch shifts from being a loose sketch to a fully blown drawing, and we each decide where that point is.  I was going to suggest to Dixie that we have a thread on pencil drawings, but that's probably not necessary now. Here are drawings by Thierry Bruet, a French artist who paints satirical, almost cartoonish, paintings in oils.   Below...'Eggs and Bacon'...pencil. Below...Rembrandt and Yue MinJun.  Yue Minjun is a contemporary Chinese artist whose work consists primarily of people laughing. I could do a thread on Thierry Bruet if you wish, Dixie.
Interesting ones Lewis, I particularly like the 'Eggs and Bacon'. I think it is a good idea of yours to have a thread on pencil drawings, as there are some fantastic artists who only work in pencil, and other artists who create beautiful pencil drawings in addition to their other work be it sculpture or painting. These are drawings that are so finished and well thought out that I don't think they could be described as 'sketches', and I am sure you know many Lewis. One artist I have in mind here is Jono Dry  - I don't go for super realism, but his are very imaginative as well.
I thought I'd use this thread to highlight a recent find. I  frequently scour the shelves of our local Oxfam bookshop for art books and picked up a lovely book full of sketches that are right up my street. They are by a Scottish author and illustrator called Mairi Hedderwick, who is probably most famous for her 'Katie Morag' children's books.  The book , "An Eye on The Hebrides" , recounts her journey round all 40 of the Hebridean islands in a camper van in 1989.  Here's some examples of her sketches: The book I picked up  is from 1996  and cost me the grand sum of £1.99: I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes illustrated  travel books. There is a new updated version on Amazon:  An Eye on the Hebrides: An Illustrated Journey: Amazon.co.uk: Mairi Hedderwick: 9781780279152: Books
A great find!  Love the grey seals picture, in particular.
