The Autumn is here again, cold dark and Wintry, out are the berries, seeds and fruit. We had a weekend away in the Cuillins, backpacking in the wild wicked mountains. Came back after very fierce winds, could not stand up. My boyfriend and I went back for a 10th Anniversary, it was 10 years ago we went for a backpacking trip through the Cuillins, saw it in the Autumn this time, liberating, but spooky at night in the tent. Slept in a stone Sheiling. My idea was to paint a postcard, in the heart of them. I came back with sketches of dried thistleheads. Too windy and ferocious to paint. Better to paint indoors in the warmth of your own home and with the comfort of your own bed. See attached an Autumn still life, I painted a few years ago of the Autumn leaves and feathers and found objects, I found lying around the motorhome, on a return walk down from the Motorhome, when we returned back to Wales, while we were renting our house out on the Isle of Lewis in 2006, called 'Colours of Autumn'.
