Well, it's been a final rejection - shortlisted, going through two rounds and finally the simple words "Not Hung" yesterday on the website area. A long haul of waiting and anticipation. It's still worth it though - don't know why but I feel strangely liberated! I have booked my train on Tuesday to go down to the Academy to collect my painting. BUT I have been lucky enough to then take it to the Llwelleyn Alexander Fine Art Gallery who are running NOT the Royal Academy Exhibition from June 10th to August 16th. The gallery is near The Old Vic, Waterloo, London. Their special exhibition couldn't happen without the RA Summer Show and is inspired by the Paris Salon des Refusés Exhibition of 1863 where artists were refused the opportunity to exhibit in the Elite Paris Salon Exhibition. I'm sure you readers know all about this, so I won't go on... Anyway, I'm in the REJECT SHOW!! Way Hay!. One door closes, another opens ... but it's still not as good as the REAL Royal Academy.
