Port Talbot - Warts and All 2 - Ore Ship

In my previous post I discussed my decision to sketch some of the less picturesque scenes and sights of Port Talbot, my home for the last 30 years, Here I show you my 'encore' picture after the first picture of the steelworks.

No more than half a mile from the bridge in the previous sketch are these three cranes, which are really iconic structures in Port Talbot. I remember well over 20 years ago taking my children for a walk up the hill behind our house and looking out so sea. Up to this point it had been a beautiful sunny day, but a sea mist had just come rolling in, and all you could see on the shore were these three cranes rising out of the mist. I was surprisingly, yet irresistibly reminded of South Sea Islanders huts on stilts.
