Geraldton Wax in Full Bloom.
Geraldton Wax in Full Bloom.
We have had this Geraldton Wax bush since we moved to this house 19 years ago and I have never seen it so full of bloom thanks to the continual and ongoing rain the like of which we havn't seen in ten years...so I thought I would show it to you all.
Most Australians would recognise this...but then with today's horticulturalists perhaps it is growing in your part of the world.
I have posted the work in progress of the Flinders Ranges Kimberly Landscape in the gallery...it is much knocked back from the previous posting thanks to a glaze of Paynes Grey and Yellow Ochre...I got carried away with some acrylic ink in the background the violet colour was so beautiful as were many others I put in having bought a heap of inks whilst they were on sale at $4 below the marked price.
The Pilbara Landscape is still waiting but on the back burner for the moment...it had become an obsession and the slightest wrong mark and I was tearing it off the board.
It is still pouring down here in Perth as it has been for almost two weeks but not complaining...well yes I am because every time I go outside with the sissors to cut some Snowdrops and Lavender it starts to blow and rain...I don't think they want to be picked.
I have made a promise to myself to clean out my spare room tomorrow and find places for all my art gear that I have collected over this past 12 months...I might get some pleasant surprises...although it's the smallest bedroom once tidied there is quite a lot of floor space so I'm also hoping to get a little painting space...the bed must stay for Daughter when she needs her Mummy.
