Here is a second painting of the olive tin. I have doubled the painting area to 290 mm x 180 mm that’s about 9.5? x 7? and it gave me more room to lavish olive oil coloured paint around the subject. The olives I painted lamp black. If you look at the really black olives, that’s exactly what they are, no messing about with Paynes Grey with a dash of Prussian Blue or anything else, they are pure black with nice shiny highlights. Now I’m getting into my stride I have started work on something incoporating a bottle of pastis, Ricard, and a packet of Gauloises. I indulge in neither, but they help create the atmosphere I’m looking for. Watch this space
