I think you have definitely got a point about taking more time to look at and study art works we admire - there is so much to learn - but it can be very depressing sometimes. I was given a beautiful book of Robert Bateman's paintings and felt so crushed that I did wonder why I was bothering. I have got over that thank goodness and try to accept that whilst I hope to improve, my "talent" is very limited and painting will really only ever be a fascinating hobby for me.
