An Unexpected Guest at Class

Hi all thank you all so much for the comments on my efforts. Had a lovely class today but as always slow...whilst having my coffee break I saw this little fellow on the grass just outside our room it's a Pink and Grey Galah...fortunately I always have my camera in my bag so after making a few what I thought was Galah noises I got some of his/her attention...the Ravens were taking a little too much notice of him/her so I shooed them away the Galah didn't bother much just carried on picking at the grass seeds...these birds usually travel in mobs and make an incredible noise overhead when they are off to roost...I think he was an escapee from someones house...they make wonderful intelligent pets and live a long time as most parrots do...I worried a bit about it but when leaving class he/she was gone...home hopefully. Little work was done in class today every one stopped by my station to chat...we have one new lady who is a survivor of throat cancer (non smoker) so I thought chatting to her was perhaps more important than a bit of paint. Because of the treatment she had lost all of her teeth and had not yet had them replaced...it had been months since she had moved out of the house and had been working with acrylics at home learning as she went...I might say she has done some nice stuff. Today when she got up she decided to end her isolation and phoned the society and came right down...she did the portrait class in the morning and our watercolour class in the afternoon...she had burst into tears at first and whilst talking to me she welled up but in a happy way...she was so happy to be out of isolation and amongst people who didn't notice she was missing her teeth. The good news is that she is free of cancer. Why tell this tale somehow this little bird turning up really made everyone in the class Oohed and Awwed when they saw the photo I had taken including our new member. So no new posting on the work in progress tonight only a few brush strokes went in today...sometimes I just like the company anyway. Art is amazing isn't it such a healing thing to do especially when you are with people of like mind who don't much care what you look like but look instead at what is on your paper
