Winner of the Jem Bowden painting competition
Gina Grimwood wins the Jem Bowden watercolour painting competition.
In the March and April issues of Leisure Painter, Jem Bowden shared a painting project to turn a summer photograph of Glastonbury Tor into a winter watercolour painting. You can read and follow part one here.
Jem then invited readers to enter their versions of the project for the chance to win his original work.
Our congratulations go to Gina Grimwood whose painting (see right) was chosen by Jem as the winning entry.
On making his selection, Jem says, 'Gina's watercolour is fresh in winter atmosphere as well as handling of the medium.
'She's captured the essence of the scene while also amending the composition, thus putting her own stamp on it very effectively.
'Importantly, I think Gina's painting demonstrates what can be achieved in landscape painting with just a few colours, enabling the painter to focus more on tone, brushwork and technique once the composition has been established.'
Each month readers are invited to email in their painting projects for inclusion in the gallery, you can see all of these works by clicking here.
