Thanks all for your comments. Had to have a go at a quickish still life after seeing Peploe, Cadell, Ferguson et al at the Scottish Colourists Exhibition (Granary Gallery, Berwick) -recommended.

I always like dark backgrounds, shows your still life up very well Willie.

I love Peploe and Fergusson, their work in the flesh is fabulous isn't it! My art tutor encourages the Peploe style of applying one stroke of colour to build up the shape, form and tones of the subject, especially still Life. Lucky you!
