An excellent composition Wib. You have really captured everything in this picture so realistically. The clouds in the background really complement the scene very well. As you mention in your biography about 'digital painting'. This is something that I too use quite often and its great to blend and edit etc in ways which you couldn't do using real hand held materials. A true masterpiece!

Fabulous painting - what's the medium?

A superb scene and beautifully created , is it digital makes no difference it’s still really good. Out of curiosity what program etc did you use, I don’t use digital but would like to know.

Thank you Thomas, Heather, Paul, Spencer, and Coral. Yes, this is a digital painting which BTW I love - especially the ease for starting and finishing a session (no clean up :). I usually begin with Affinity Photo or Pixelmator Pro or both to create a composition. I normally work from photographs or elements from a several photographs but you can begin as well from a sketch much as you would with traditional compositions. Once I'm happy with the composition I move on to actually painting, again with Affinity Photo which has a wide range of different brushes (it's possible to import PS brushes). I also use Painter Essentials or a combination of both. I will usually do touchups in both AP and Pixelmator Pro. That's more or less the cook's tour of my workflow but if you have further questions on the process of digital painting then let me know and I'll do my best to respond.

I love painting wildlife scenes especially with mountains as a backdrop. This animal happens to be a bull elk hanging out in a high mountain meadow which at certain times of the year can be incredibly beautiful.
