This is superb Wib, l love the way the foreground light pushes the far end of the lake into the background creating a wonderful sense of recession.

Wonderful bold and warm colours, Wib, and lovely view.

Thank you, Cesare.

Beautiful painting love the colours.

It's already been said, beautiful rich colours and wonderful light. Are there loons in the Vancouver area? (Going there in Sept and interested in wildlife).

A wonderful silence in this Wib, magical colours as always.

Thank you, Karen, Sandra, Carole and Maureen - your comments are always appreciated.

Sandra, yes I believe the Common Loon is populated throughout British Columbia, although not sure if they are located within Vancouver itself? Best wishes for your trip to Canada.

A spectacular painting Wib, the colours, the composition, the sky, the water, everything is so superb. I love it!

Thank you very much, Margaret.

Thank-you Wib. I'm having a ten day wildlife tour on Vancouver Island so perhaps some there where it is less populated.

The loon is the iconic bird of wilderness lakes here in Canada – although today you may frequently find them on cottage country lakes and in more built-up areas. They have several haunting calls often heard at dawn or in the twilight of evening. Once heard it is a call you will forever remember. This painting of a pair of loons patrolling their portion of a wilderness lake as the last rays of sunlight kiss the shoreline is, for me, a memory of a time growing up beside a lake in eastern Ontario.
