Your taste isn't set on a speyside or an Island malt then....there are so many to choose from. I'm not a whisky lover myself but my husband likes a dram of Benromach malt on high days and holidays...lol. I think it's a Speyside malt. I live about four miles from Bladnoch distillery but I couldn't say how good their malt is.
