A master landscape painter that I’ve always appreciated is J.M.W. Turner – especially for his splashes of bright colour and his choice of vibrant scenes full of energy and movement. This quiet Turneresque scene is of a weathered point of land jutting out into the sea and topped by a staffed lighthouse (now obsolete) to warn inshore shipping of the nearby dangers.
