Trouble is, the crows, rooks and pigeons get used to them: it only takes one bird to perch on the scarecrows head (and it'll usually be a crow, magpie, or jackdaw) and the others take courage and descend on the crop. Your scarecrow would put ME off though, Jim - very sinister.
