First Oil pastel

First Oil pastel

I have a few days off and I can't recognise a Jim Morris piece great one definitely way

Well done with the pastels Jim, it's looking great. I can't do anything with them!

Good result, Jim, and beautiful colours.

Oil pastel can be very liberating - you get immediate, if sometimes rather rough, results: but then it's the roughness which appeals, probably. Anyway - like this one.

looking good Jim.

Thanks all for the comments. Think I might use the reverse of my paper next time as the stuff I normally use is a bit too textured for this medium. It's 300 gsm and great for watercolour work, but a little rough fo this.

Wow, such a good first effort with the oil pastels. Did you know you can add a little solvent to them to create a watercolour type effect?

This is great Jim. Love the colours.

Thank you all so much for the kind comments, and I added a little turps Stephen and changed the picture. Don't know if you can tell but it's definitely smoother now.

You've certainly done a great picture for a first attempt Jim I like your pallete.

It's nice Jim. Choice of colours good. I found too that smoother paper is better, or even card.

You managed them well Jim.
