Thanks for the supportive comments. I have a book on Trompe L'oeil which I perused before attempting the pillars. I must admit I'm quite pleased with the way they turned out. Now I need to knuckle down and finishe the stairs and floor and move on to the main figures. The black panther should be a nightmare (but what a challenge. lol)
