Thanks everyone. It's surprising how much tonal control you have with a good quality ballpoint. I have this one they call a space pen that you can apparently write upside down with, although I haven't done much of that. Hi Sylvia, I'm afraid I don't teach, I'm not very good at it. I've had a lot of teachers over the years but I've learned the most by spending hours with individual paintings in Museums and writing to Artists with specific questions, I've actually formed some good friendships by doing the later. If I can help with anything just ask!

Hi Vincent, I found the same thing with ball point when there was no other marker to hand. I was astounded by the control it gives for marks and tones, although I don't have the mastery of it quite like you have here. I also love First Green, the drawing together with the concept basing it of the poem seems quite memorable to me. Good luck with your commissions.
