This is a wonderful portrayal of three chaps in the latter phase of their lives. They almost look like a 'boys club' reverting back to the days of having fun together, scrumping apples and being Just Williams. Great character in the painting and as always executed with amazing skill.

Bet they were really proud of this. Shame about Ron though.

Can't believe I missed these three today. Excellent, sad story with this one though.

i just love the detail its extraordinary...chris

Not usually one for figurative stuff - but I love this. BTW: Is the perspective distortion intentional or is it your photograph of the piece? If it's been done intentionally it's very good.

Hi Vincent, Just been reading about your life and work on your blog. Your painting style is unique. All the detail on the clothing folds. Wow! I love the way you've caught their mixture of pride and awkwardness at being models- really artistic!

Hi Colleen, Thank you very much for your kind comments. I know there are a lot of Artists who paint in a similar way to this so I don't know about being unique, but it is a great compliment. Thanks As I mentioned in the description - 'Ron' on the left passed away a while ago, since then the other two are very rarely seen there, so it was great to capture them at that time. I'm very glad you like this.

110 x 80 cm Acrylic on board. These three gentlemen met everyday, 1pm at my local shops. They would stay and have a chat for about an hour then wander off. People called them the last of the summer wine. They agreed to sit (or stand) for this portrait and it was exhibited in the Mall Galleries, London, but the day of the opening, Ron (on the left) sadly passed away.
