Homage to the Cypress

How superb is that!!

I've had the same thing happen. Pity...they are magnificent trees when full grown, but most gardens aren't big enough. I like your drawing very much.

Lovely job done here Martin, I like how you have left the snow in the foreground uncluttered! I’ve got these trees also, but I don’t have immediate neighbours where they are growing!

Beautiful drawing x

Excellent picture Martin 🙂

Such a shame Marin, a beautiful tree. I like your dedication to it very much.

Beautiful drawing, Martin.

Tremendous .

You have produced a lovely image Martin. I like all the textures contrasted with the plain foreground. At the moment I’m feeling guilty for having bought a real Christmas tree…the thought of it being felled.

I love the textures in this Martin. I think it has the feel of a woodcut or linocut.

It’ll carry on growing in your heart Martin, life is life, you have done what should have been done to this amazing tree… Nice artwork…

Great homage but so sad it's gone.

Thanks everyone for your very kind words. Very much appreciated. The tree was a beautiful golden cypress. We have a line of dark green cypresses behind which we have trimmed occasionally to stop droppings on neighbouring gardens but they aren’t as spectacular as this one was. I’ve left 2 10ft high stumps in order to create a sculpture

A stunning piece, Martin - with exquisite use of tones and textures and accents in all the right places. Beautifully done.

Thanks Seok I appreciate your input

We sadly had to fell this lovely tree as it was a nuisance to neighbours having grown so big. Whoever planted it did not leave enough space. I thought I’d remember it this way. Carbon ink with Fude pen and acrylic ink with brush on canvas. 18x14”
