A commendably honest self-assessment. I think the significant problem is the cloud coming down over the mountain top - it might have been better to leave your first wash untouched, because it does look as though you thought it not strong enough, introduced another, but that the second, stronger wash went a bit lumpy on you - ie, took on a somewhat unconvincing shape which couldn't be salvaged. A shame, because you achieved beautiful, delicate washes in the rest of the sky and mountains. But! You'll crack it next time.

Thanks for the comment Robert. I've posted another two pictures since but I'm not sure I'm getting my mojo back but I'm enjoying the journey. Nice to have some time to paint again.

Watercolour painting using Rembrandt watercolours on Schoellershammer No. 10 coarse grained paper. Size 30 x 40 cm. Painted from on site watercolour sketch and several digital photographs. This is the first picture I have painted in several months and the rustiness shows. Maybe it's back to basics until the flow returns. Watch this space for the next installment, fingers crossed.
