Great work a very very beautiful pastel. May I comment on the fact that you uploaded three paintings on the same day. I know it makes life easier but all it does is push other peoples work of the gallery page so much faster. We artists should be concerned to allow others to show their work as much as we wish to show out own.

Very effective painting - particularly the quizzical look around the mouth and glimpse of puppy teeth. So far as Ralph's point is concerned, an artist uploaded around a dozen images the other day, which don't seem to have aroused comment, so your three are moderate by comparison.

ACtually, as I look closer, they may not be his teeth, but it still looks good!

A very lovely piece of work, as are the others you have put on today, but I haven't time to comment on all three individually, also noting the comment above, yes, it is fairer to everyone to limit yourself.

Aw how lovely; what an incredible pose. By sueded paper do you mean velour? By the way POL has no restriction on how many you post at once; you can post as many as you like. However you are more likely to get comments on each one if there are fewer rather than more.

Thank you all so much for your comments. I did just register for paintersonline yesterday and was not aware of what would happen if I downloaded more than one at a time. Thanks for the tip , I appreciate it so as not to offend others.

Diana, as to your question about the sueded paper, yes you are right when you said velour. I tried it out for the first time with this painting and loved how it makes the fur so soft looking. I'm used to blending with my fingers on the Le Carte so not being able to blend is new territory and a little intimidating. I used Lesley Harrison's how to book and she is an awesome teacher.

This is exceptional for a first time on velour, really gorgeous picture.

Marcia, thank you so much for your lovely comments on Mother Love and the autumn painting. I do more watercolours than anything else but I have done pastel animals; started out doing only dogs for 20 years in watercolour then I found Vivien Walters and just adored her work so did one of her email courses on pastels. I did the wolf. If you haven't yet seen her work on here have a look at her website http://www.vivienwalters.co.uk/ Incredible work, so soft, BTW I have no connection with her at all except to love her work. I don't use pastels much though because of the dust but I do love them.

Thank you Carole and Diana, I did check out Vivien walters work and I love the loose flowing images she is able to do. Sometimes I find myself breaking sticks of pastel because I'm so tense with getting the exact line and I wish I could be a bit looser. Oh, well, the grass is always greener and all that.......
