Wow, this one is lovely, love the dark and light back ground, shadows, and the position of the dancers is great, love it :).

Thank you Karleen, My husband and I did the tango at our wedding and I wanted to do something for above our fireplace. The people are not us (I wish) but I loved the sensuality of the pose. Next I think I will do just the feet intertwined of something .

mmm that sounds like a smashing idea just doing the feet intwined. I'm currently trying to paint a self portrait but having great troubles with it, so its nice to have a break and come on here and browse all the wonderful paintings.

I know what you mean, I get lots of inspiration looking at others peoples artwork. How long have you been painting?

Really only the last year or 2, my mum was an artist and taught me to draw at a young age, as I got older I started to sketch more seriously, then I started painting about 15 yrs ago but didnt continue with it, work and family you know how it is:), now I have alot of time and love to paint, when I have finnished my portrait I am going to try water colours out, I'm self taught so I think thats why I;m finding it so hard to do the portrait, or maybe its just that I really enjoy doing land scapes, but trying to branch out into new styles.

What a neat thing to have your mom as an artist. My 10 year old son is trying his hand at drawing as well. He loves to draw profiles of his Hot Wheel cars and then give them these fantastic paint jobs. I am self taught as well so I know what you mean by struggling with new things. I only get to paint at night as my two kids (10 and 4) require my attention during the day. I started out with the charcoals and gave them away to my friends as gifts until they told me they would have paid for it!!!. I would love to try water colors out as well but it seems really intimidating. Can't wait to see what you do with your self portrait. I think you have chosen the hardest thing possible to paint. I did a charcoal once of me and my sis and was never satisfied with my image, I always wanted to make it appear "better" than the photo reference I used and if I made it better, then it didn't look like me!!:) Good luck and can't wait to see it.
