Derwent Line Makers. 23X16.5 cm. This bridge is final crossing of Newlands Beck before the valley opens into the Vale of Keswick. It was rebuilt after being practically washed away in the floods that devastated Cockermouth in 2009 and later floods have again washed away the beckside path so presently you cannot stand at the viewpoint shown here. It’s not always wet in the Lake District but with the high catchment area serious rain can have devastating results.
