All’s quiet.. you could hear a pin drop

Many thanks Margaret : )

I can identify with your description of the stillness after a snow fall Tony, as if everything is holding its breath. Thirty years or so ago I purchased an old cottage, didn’t really like it that much to be honest but I was running out of options. I decided to view it anyway, after a heavy fall of snow, no one was living there and it was down a lane by itself. I stood by the door, the silence was deafening and embracing, if that makes sense....the only sound was from a startled blackbird from a nearby shrub his alarm call a musical surprise. I put an offer on it even before I looked inside just on that experience. Life is standing still in your painting, waiting for the release of that held breath......beautiful.

Thanks very much Heather x

Thanks a million Sylvia, it was nice to read that : )

Hi Fiona, yes it does make sense, just to hear all the little sounds of life happening when all is still is invaluable and its only until those moments you realise how what you are missing. What a lovely way to decide where to live, i absolutely loved reading your reply, you have a lovely way with words and thank you very much for spending the time to get your message accross which was beautiful to read x

Just noticed this one Tony, I've painted the scene myself of "Castle Coombe" but yours has been done so delicately. Smasher.

Hi Bill, its a lovely place, thank you for your lovely comments 😊

With the hustle and bustle of modern day life i found myself at this lovely place on a day out, it’s Castle combe village where time seems to have stood still. A beautiful untouched place steeped in history prompted me to take this picture, however it was summertime with trees overpowering the village so this is my version after hours of heavy snowfall then finally it stops and all that can be heard in the silence is the crackling of the last flakes settling and a flutter of the birds in the distance.
