"Messing around" can produce some very nice things. I can see you really got into it with all the leaf details.

This was painted about 8 years ago, as I was messing about with a variety of media and styles, I still rather like it, having found it when we cleared out the Gallery. Must apologise for not being around much recently, been in bed ill...then I fell over and hurt my foot...stupid old woman!
