Storm over Malta

Storm over Malta

Great plein air painting Thalia! tough to do so quickly, and on rough paper too. Have to push harder on the brush to get the paint to set, and yet, the rough gives you all those perfect dry brush textures! The added water to the dark clouds give such lovely effects! :) :)

Total simplicity yet perfectly and boldly captured Thalia. Love it.

Wonderful result in such a short time. You have captured the fresh spontaneity only Plein Air does Thalia.

Perfectly captured Thalia, watercolour is so good at these type of dramatic scenes.

Thank you Nancy, Jim, Carole and Alan, really kind thoughtful comments and greatly appreciated. I just love plein air and painting from life, and it shows in my work!

Simple and beautiful, Thalia.

Lovely work 😀

You can’t beat that fresh loose immediate impression you get from Plein Air Thalia. As you say in shows in your work and this looks great.

Instantly noticeable, Thalia, with a wonderful sense of drama. There's an immediacy that draws the viewer into the heart of the action. Bri

Very atmospheric Thalia.

Thank you so much Cesare, Linda, Barry and Brian. Indeed, as you rightly say, you can't beat plein air and drawing from life. the weather is against me ...unbelievable storms hitting Maltese islands in May!!!

Great wet in wet effects, Thalia. Run for cover is what that sky says to me!

Hang on Studio Wall

Painted wet in wet watching a fantastic storm approaching Malta yesterday. Fortunately for our little group of Urban Sketchers we were under the shelter of the Grand Hotel! Had to paint fast to capture it as the cloud formations changed so quickly, painted in under 10 minutes, on heavy weight Rough Bockingford.
