A Day at The Hospital!

Good grief Tessa! You sound very calm about the whole experience but I should imagine that calm was the last emotion you were feeling at the time. Scary, to put it mildly. I hope expressing it “all” through art will help to digest what you’ve been through. It looks a terrifying experience…..thankfully with a happy ending. Take it easy gal……and remember, do as you are told!

Thank you Fiona! Yes it was scary and b painful at the time and still not feeling great but early days yet- keep taking the tablets!

Oh Tessa, I'm glad they found the problem and started you on the right treatment quickly. Take it easy. Your drawing is very good.

Many thanks Denise. This is a sort of therapy rather than a work of art!

Sheesh - all best wishes to you. Seven hours' wait for an ambulance though is NOT good, however great the care may have been when you got to hospital. Trying not to make a party political point, this is a situation which has got much worse in the last, shall we say X?, years. I had a scare something like this, but was in a GP surgery at the time, with a very forceful GP who gave the ambulance-hub staff an ear-bashing. Not their fault, though - if you underfund an emergency service, it will hit response times. At least you got a good drawing out of it; can't say I would even have tried in the circumstances!

Tessa, what a frightening experience - hope you recover soon now that you’re getting the treatment you need. Time to take things easy - and do more of your art! (Like your drawing.)

Thanks so much Robert. In hindsight I can say I would rather have spent seven hours waiting in my own bed than on a trolly in the hospital corridor which must be horrendous! Of course that’s not a choice anyone would want or should have. Apparently the target time for Cat 1 is still eight minutes, and 18 for Cat 2. 🤷‍♀️ nuff said.

Thanks Jenny. Yes hopefully will get some more done, though I’m not supposed to sit around doing nothing! Incidentally the drawing was done today at home. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take a sketch pad with me.🤣

Oh Tessa what an ordeal for you. Great that you've managed to make this drawing of your experience so soon after the event.

Cheers Lewis. It was a difficult long day with endless waiting around between tests. I know you’ve experienced some of that. But I’m still here and live to fight another day. 🤞

Tessa, all best wishes to you! I’ve just read this…so glad all is under control now.

Thank you Marjorie. Hopefully so. X

What a terrible experience Tessa, hope you're on the road to full recovery.

What a great way to portray a frightening experience- keep painting and hope you make a speed recovery Tessa.

Wow Tessa, what a day ... hopefully you will now make a full recovery, what a worry. But good comes out of bad, this painting is very good and says it all.

Wow, that’s true art coming out of your experience. Feels like at work. Wish you a speedy uncomplicated recovery. It is scary to go through this.

I’m glad you’re on the right side of it now Tessa. I can sympathise with you but instead of waiting for an ambulance we went by taxi as like you was having severe chest pains. They carried out variety of tests and now on blood thinners and think it was a severe reaction to the heart/bp drugs a doctor had previously prescribed over the phone! Your illustration clearly lays out what occurred. Keep smiling and I hope you feel a lot better soon.

Oh Tessa, I'm sorry you had to go through that. Scary to have to wait so long for an ambulance. I hope your health improves and well done for expressing your experience through art x

A eye catching and great way to tell the story of your deeply unpleasant experience. Keep positive and painting Tessa and all the best

Hi Tessa, hope you are continuing to improve as each day goes by. Thinking of you.

So many grateful thanks to all of you for your kindness! I’m stunned though I knew some of you would probably have experienced same or similar. Xx

Thank you all for your very kind and thoughtful words.,I thought I had responded but 🤷‍♀️🥰 I feel I am amongst friends here. 🙏

Had a nightmare day on Thursday being admitted by 999 ambulance with query heart attack, severe pains etc. spent a very long day having numerous tests, umpteen ECGs, bloods CT scan, chest X-ray etc. turns out I have multiple blood clots in my lung so now on blood thinners hopefully to sort me out. Thanks and praise to the staff at GRH who were without exception wonderful. Apart from a seven hour wait for the ambulance….all good! 🙏 This is an A4 mixed media, felt I wanted to put it all together.

I have returned to painting over the last few years having relocated from Cardiff to the Cotswolds in 2009 and joined the Guiting Power Art Group. Although I did a year's Foundation Course at art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few attempts here and…
