Still Life with Peppers

I don't like still lifes much either, but one way to overcome that is to forget about the conventional form and re define the genre...ie...forget all you assume a still life to be and stamp your own mark on it. It's good exercise in observation, doesn't fidget, yawn and say 'have you finished yet'? Simplify your compositions, forget the fancy stuff such as drapery, and other distracting clutter, and choose something that you like and has character, something that you have empathy or association with. In brief, personalise it!
