Lovely gentle painting, love the foreground with the long grasses 😀

Tessa this is a lovely painting, the thumbnail intrigued me to take a closer look. I love the way you have painted the Island(?) or peninsula just off centre. Very different and very attractive piece.

It is very peaceful and beautifully painted, Tessa

It's lovely Tessa, very gentle and peaceful feel. Great foreground.

Delightful painting Tessa, I like the subject and those darks really help establish the focal point.

Thanks Linda, Fiona (think it’s just a winding river rather than an island but I didn’t get to the far side), Maureen, Marjorie and Alan, for your kind and encouraging comments, glad I gave the feeling of peacefulness. It was a challenging scene to paint but enjoyable. I tried to reign in my usual tendency to brighter colours!

This is very impressive to me, Tessa. Beautiful scenery, calm, peaceful and I love the sunlight in it. The swan is a good idea!

Love the light hitting the foreground, in particular the dash of pale yellow on the grass. Nice work, Tessa.

This looks so calming, a beautiful scene Tessa.

I love the subtlety of this Tessa

Many thanks Mia, Jennifer, Carole and Lynne. I’m pleased that people have picked up on the calmness of this. 😀

A lovely beautiful scene, you've made it look so peaceful.

This is just gorgeous, lovely light, I can almost smell the atmosphere, Tessa. Beautifully painted

A super peaceful and calm painting Tessa, very lovely.

Beautifully tranquil, Tessa, with a delightfully subtle palette. Bri

Thanks so much Lesley, Thalia, Margaret and Bri, for your lovely comments. Thalia, love the thought of being able to smell the atmosphere! (Almost!). Thank you.

Oil on board 8x10” from a photo I took a few weeks ago when I went to see an art exhibition at The Roses Theatre. I walked back alongside the river and saw a heron which just flew away before I could snap it! So the swan will have to do in this hopefully peaceful scene.

About the Artist
Tessa Gwynne

I have returned to painting over the last few years having relocated from Cardiff to the Cotswolds in 2009 and joined the Guiting Power Art Group. Although I did a year's Foundation Course at art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few attempts here and…
