The subject matter really lends itself well to a square frame and you've painted this still life so well with those contoured edges

Great style Tessa and very well executed.

Very appealing, nicely done Tessa.

The pyramid composition is perfect for the square canvas Tessa. Love your subtle palette and the pears are particularly good.

Square format is a favourite of mine, you’ve made a great job of this still life Tessa - slight homage to Cezanne as well!

Such a wonderful and well-balanced painting🎨. The overall mood and colors work together so nicely. Beautifully done! 🖌️

Many thanks all and much appreciated. I enjoyed the square format Alan and will definitely think of using again, makes you think differently!

Terrific

Excellent work, Tessa. It has a lovely contemporary look to it.

Thanks again all for your encouragement!

Immediately thought of Cezanne with this light filled delightful painting

Thank you Martin. I’m a big fan of Cezanne’s still life, in fact all of his work, so maybe that influence and style was somewhere in my brain!

Love this, just perfect !!

Well composed and I love the colour palette Tessa.

Thanks so much Valerie and Diane, great to have your comments. Drives me on!

Great format for this painting Tessa, lovely still life.

Thank you Carole. x

I love this colourful still life.

Thanks Shaun very much.

I like a square format for still life paintings Tessa, can’t explain why! I think this is a gorgeous painting, love everything about it. The brush marks, the palette and a nod to Cezanne, the black outline which has been left in areas.

I do like a touch of the old black outline Fiona! Thank you for your comments. I’m trying to find some more square boards!

20x20” oil on board. I don’t normally paint in square format but found a framed board which had been hanging about , and really enjoyed painting square. This is from a bunch of photos taken by a friend.
