I really like the simplicity of this Tessa I think it worked better because of it . Love brush marks and shapes .

I should have mentioned most of it was painted using a larger brush ( at least for me!) approx 5/8”. Thanks for your comments Dixie and Spencer. 👍🏻

I like the simplicity. I wish I could paint with big brushes confidently as you are!

I think its a lovely painting. Beautiful mix of colours.

I like how the tree seems so alive and the colours are so well balanced Tessa.

I'm painting on the same canvas board myself ;) I like the surface, but the next painting will be on gesso... Just wanted to smoother the texture even more, so I've applied a gesso over it. Haven't try it just yet... I'm very fancy the colours you've chosen for this painting, very nice, calming view ;)

I like the simplicity of this too

Thank you Romila. I started with a smaller brush but then realised I needed larger to get the effect I wanted. Many thanks Valerie and Carole. Always glad of your encouragement.

Thank you Art. I like this surface to paint on, sometimes I leave a little to show through. I haven’t used gesso for a while (actually haven’t painted that much!). I usually gesso a batch of boards. You’ve reminded me I should do some so they are ready.

Thank you Heather. Much appreciated.

Thank you Coral.

When I saw this as the thumbnail I thought it had a look of ……in the way you’ve made the paint flow around the painting….. Van Gogh. The colours also remind me of his work, even enlarged it definitely has a feel and look of Vincent. It’s gorgeous Tessa.

Gosh Fiona. They say quit while you’re ahead, so I’m off. 🤭

Am now looking through your gallery Tessa. Love your oils, especially this one, today's tree, and of course the "other planet!" I like the soft colours and simplicity.

12x8” oil on Jackson’s linen board. Getting back into oils after the break. Just an imaginary scene but using bridge, river etc which I see locally, and avoiding too much detail.

About the Artist
Tessa Gwynne

I have returned to painting over the last few years having relocated from Cardiff to the Cotswolds in 2009 and joined the Guiting Power Art Group. Although I did a year's Foundation Course at art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few attempts here and…
