Lakeland waterfall by Terence McDonald
This was painted in oils on a textured board 12" x 9". I used the water miscible oils as turps are forbidden at the group where I did the painting. The oils were a mixture of W & N Artisan and Jackson's own make, which I can recommend. I hadn't used oils for a few years and found it was great to get back to them again. There is something about the lovely buttery quality and the capability to move the paint round that I really like, it's a pity that they are so messy for home use. The subject is one of those charming little falls that are to be seen all over Lakeland. As an exercise, I also painted it in pastels which I'll post later - the effect is quite different.
