Don't know the poem, Sylvia, but like the sketch.

It's brilliant Sylvia but I can't bear it! Me and animals....

Seththe poem was written by Linda Wilson who is a member on here. Thanks Marjorie ...yes he does look a bit stiff .

Great sketch Sylvia, poor old cat. Very sad (I love cats).

What s beautiful yet sad poem. Love the illustration too.

Poor puddy tat, brilliant Sylvia!

This is super, Sylvia.

Oh Sylvia poor Tiger☹️

Yes, that cat is dead. Not an easy subject to portray without it looking morbid or gruesome, but your cat looks like it's lying in state like some ancient hero. I wouldn't know where to begin with that poem. Well done, Sylvia, with a very tricky subject.

I did enjoy illustrating Linda’s poem and big thanks for comments. Roll over Lew I might startup in competition with you....I think not. Anyone else like to have a go at Linda’s poem?

Beautifully illustrated, Sylvia. Next stop illustrating children’s books!

What a lovely sketch Sylvia, didn't know whether to laugh or cry 😥 The poem is wonderful well done Linda and thanks for sharing it with us.

This is a really lovely illustration of my poem, complete with mice and birds. I never imagined that I would be a published poet!. My cat was quite a character and had several homes. He was very attractive with his long ginger fur, so several neighbours decided to feed him, whenever he asked. That didn't stop him hunting though. He was even known to kill rats. He even managed to pull a magpie through his cat-flap one day. The magpie wasn't dead and caused havoc, flying about in my home, knocking plants and anything else off windowsills. Despite his 16 year reign of terror over the local wildlife, I do miss him.

Always sad when you loose a pet, a lovely poem Linda, and very good illustration Sylvia, God bless you Tiger.

Not an easy subject, but you have achieved it without it being morbid.

It’s great but so sad

I enjoyed the doing is this and it was fun illustrating Linda’s poem.. thanks for all the positive comments it’s great that you have taken the time and trouble x

"Farewell Feline Friend". Tiger, Tiger, my beautiful boy, Why did you think, a mouse is a toy? Mice now roam free and fear no more The close embrace of your claw and jaw. Tiger, Tiger, who I held so dear, Is pussy heaven as good as here? Who strokes you now, when you fret? Who dries your paws, when you are wet? Tiger, Tiger, who tread so light No bird or chick escaped your sight. They chirp for joy now they need not flee, Since you lie there in your cemetery

Sylvia Evans. I am mainly a self taught artist, though I did spend a year at Rochdale School of Art in the late 1950’s. I was then made to get a “Proper Job” by my father, so I spent the next few years in a nursing career. I married and had a family, just picking up a pencil to amuse my…
