Fabulous textures Sylvia! The bare branch set against the most basic of materials….stone….is a snapshot of the interior and way of life for the people that lived in the Black Houses. I’ve visited the same ones Sylvia.

Really eye catching and I agree with Fiona's comments

Beautiful 💕

Very good Sylvia.

There's real interest in stone walls, great patterns and colours. Nice one.

It's not easy to get a stone wall to look convincing, but you've achieved it here Sylvia.

So many positive comments , thank you. This wall is in Scotland but living in sheep country in Wales I see a lot of dry stone work though ours here in wales are slate and limestone I think the Scottish ones have a lot of granite in them. Incidentally my husband was a Stonemason so I spent a lot of 58 years being taught about stone, and granite and marble......

A striking painting Sylvia, I do love a stone wall like this and your explanation about the Black houses makes it more interesting still.

Just looked up The Black Houses as has not heard of them: how fascinating- great options for painting/drawing!

Thank you Tessa, Harris and Lewis are both amazing .

Blue stones! Are they the same as Stonehenge stones, but smaller? Or plain old granite? Love um!

40 cm x40 cm acrylic on canvas board. Taken from a photograph I took some years ago. The Black houses are on the Isle of Lewis in the outer Hebrides. A fascinating place .
