Is this the painting or the photo.

Oil painting, Laura paints in the photo realist style

I am afraid the same thought occurred to me. Either this is truly exceptional or it is indeed a photograph. For me it is the way the fingernails of the left hand disappear into the colour of the dress and the out of focus stones in the ring. Would an artist not have painted these?

Additional thought, take a photograph at an angle, which shows the side edge of the canvas, and prove me wrong!

Another swindle group "mistake"?

Look on her website. However, who knows about this photo given the previous mistake.

I wonder how long the wall paper took to paint ? If , this is a genuine painting it is remarkable . But like other viewers here I have big doubts.for all the reasons already stated, This is soooooo photo realistic I can’t see the point of it.

I'm also pretty sure this is photograph. Surely not another blunder! If it IS a painting (which it doesn't look like), then I don't see any point in spending umpteen hours replicating something that you already have.

Please go to: www.lauraquinnharris.com/portraits - Laura's website for proof that it is NOT a photo. Thank you.

Who are you trying to kid !!!

'Jessica Rose' Oil on board 21" x 26" This portrait by Laura Quinn Harris will be on display at the Shortlist exhibition in the Saul Hay Gallery from 9th June to 22nd July. Doubt no more but please try to appreciate the fantastic technique of this superb, award winning photorealist artist.

We’ve been through all this before, where the ‘original painting’ suddenly vanished and was replaced by a genuine painting.

One has to say, despite all the doubts, that if you go the to Saul Hay Gallery website (https://www.saulhayfineart.co.uk/laura-quinn-harris) that the image of the painting there is the same as this posting. For a commercial gallery to pull some kind of trick in the hope of selling a £6500 painting would take a lot of brass neck. That would argue in favour of a painting, albeit an exceptional one at that. Any-one in Manchester June 9 to July 22 interested enough to take a look?

Thank you Tony for taking the trouble to check it's authenticity out. Laura is a brilliant painter but obviously not everyone will appreciate her work like any artist. We do not aim to deceive, and do our best to help the dozens of artists who are members of the group, promote and sell their work if they wish to. We made one error which we acknowledge and apologise for...we're human.

This is superb, SO talented! I just love the wallpaper. (where can I get some??) I don't think this looks like a photo at all. Please keep sharing these and don't be put off by doubters.

Thank you Rebecca, sorry can't help with the wallpaper!

Amazing skill Laura, shame about the wallpaper!

Personally, I preferred your portrait artist of the year paintings in the 2014 season, Laura. They were spontaneous and beautifully painterly. These paintings do look like photos, and apparently you take several months to complete one. Why not just print a photo? I always wonder how much is down to printing, transfer paper, projectors, tracings etc to achieve this level of accuracy and for that reason I remain a touch sceptical, but not terribly so. The Flemish masters have been scrutinised for their potential use of the camera obscura, and they were wonderful. The Baroque period, especially through Caravaggio, was said to have taken optical technology to new heights when it came to portrait painting. He was, and still is, one of my all time favourite painters. So my scepticism is somewhat tempered by my admiration for your skill. That said, your treatment of light, shadow and colour is exceptional. For the life of me I can't fathom why you went to such extraordinary lengths to paint the wallpaper in such minute detail. It IS dark, but I feel it detracts from the superb portrait. However, if your making big bucks, perhaps that's reason enough. My overwhelming concern is that you probably won't get to read this thread, mainly because this whole display appears to be part of a marketing strategy, manufactured by the Swinton Group, where nothing much is given back in return. I sincerely wish you all the best, Laura. Brian

Brilliant photorealistic painting, very talented- love the wallpaper.

Fantastic painting!!

Just looked at your website, Laura, and this is a truly amazing photorealistic painting. An amazing talent. Not surprising to wonder if it is a photo, or some mixture, but it really is the most beautiful painting, Laura.
