... and this is a beauty too!

Great. Love those complementary colours.

Thanks Heather and Val

Impressive piece Steve, great style.

Love this.

Thanks Alan, cheers Denise

Marvellous work Steve. Love the rusty colours contrasting with the blues.

This is a beauty also Steve.....beautifully painted.

A few years ago went specially to see this at The Mauritshuis in The Hague. How exciting that was, I’d just read the novel “ The Goldfinch”. It stood out amongst all the other paintings because of its simplicity and seemed so modern for its time. Fabritius was a mentor for Vermeer I believe.

Cheers Carole and Fiona I really enjoyed this one, it’s given me a few ideas for a few more

Just to add, I did find that little chain around his leg a bit heartbreaking.

Superb brushwork and depiction of textures, Steve.

I've always loved the original by Fabritius, and I like this version too!

Hi Marjorie, not been lucky enough to see the original but I can see the stillness that Vermeer may have recognised

Cheers Carole, Seok and Hilary

Thanks Petra

Oil on canvas 8x6ins. A reworking of a favourite study of mine by a pupil of Rembrandt. I think this is the painting equivalent of doing a cover version of an old song. Check out the original, it's a beauty.
