A super tree...Wish I had it in my painting instead of the one I've painted! Lovely uncluttered work. Ah well...I shall plod on!

Lovely. Gorgeous blue sky. Acrylic Gouache? How does that work? What did you think of them? Acrylic Gouache is new to me. I have them separately I cannot imagine what they must be like but they do produce wonderful results.

Really beautiful tree at the height of summer.

Hi Jeannette, the Acrylic gouache paints are very nice to use straight from the jar....they are quite liquid / fluid but very opaque.....this tree was painted as a black silhouette first then the bright green and blue sky holes painted on top, no bleed through , 100% coverage and no mud....i must admit considering they are only £1.95 for 35ml pots from Jacksons..i was absolutely thrilled with them (colour range isn't huge but all the mixing primarys are available).......... their biggest drawback (or benefit depending on viewpoint) is their drying time.... these things dry waterproof on the palette faster than regular acrylics..yep i really did say FASTER... the knack is to embrace this and just dispense small amounts at a time. they dry velvety matt just like regular gouache and for fast sketching suit me perfectly.... they also break down in isopropyl alcohol so if they dry on the brush you can rescue it. I'm sure they also have uses watered down, but i love the covering power of them neat..... i definitely think they are my 'Best Find' of 2009.

Thanks Ruth and Carole.... i had forgotten about this sketch but finding it today i am pleased with how clean the colours turned out.... i usually have a knack of over-subduing colours ...Steve

I've read about these colours before, and felt I must try them one day: and your excellent painting is a big boost to that ambition.. This would look fabulous as a really big painting - you've achieved a really impressive sense of scale here.

Glad you found it Steve, you won't miss it in future. Carole

Sorry Steve, Minninglow that is!

Found this one today while going through my sketchbook, done plein air this summer (well sort of plein air i was in the car with the window down) trying out my newly delivered AV acrylic gouache for the first time.
