Looks good enough to eat ! Very interesting to learn how you prepared your support. I sometimes prepare my own but by only using shop bought gesso for pastels on off cuts of mount board. Maybe I should experiment more, especially if it helps me produce work as good as this !!

This is A4 Oil Pastel on an experimentally prepared paper. Waterproof PVA glue and childrens play sand applied to Hot Press watercolour paper, once dry this was then painted with a coat of Gesso toned with a shade of ultramarine acrylic. This resulted in a very robust surface which was very coarse but suited the oil pastels perfectly (though getting straight outlines on such a bumpy surface was a challenge)
