Two more wonderful paintings, Stephen. I like both very much but this is my favourite, with your signature colour palette, the wonderful brushstrokes in the foreground and the splash of red. I thought you'd abandoned this site - it's some time since you've posted and you've been missed... by me and I'm sure many others. Looking forward to some more soon!

Hi Jane, Thanks for your lovely comment. I had some trouble uploading the two paintings..totally my fault, but had to wait for the IT people on here to sort out. I am with you on this one it was a far more challenging experience to paint, probably less commercial hence all the comments going on the Blakeney painting. x

Beautiful paintings , great style and panache. Reminds me of the holiday paintings on the railway stations in the fifties.

Another gorgeous piece.Love the interaction of the shapes which work so well. Like Jane, I've missed your postings. Glad you're back.

You are not the first to say that Fred, thank you.

Stephen - have just had an email from Waterfront Studios to say you're doing a 2 day course this month. I would have loved to come across from Ireland but am tied up for the next couple of months with visitors. However, should you do another one sometime I've asked them to keep me on their mailing list ... Hope it all goes well!

Wonderful vibrant work, great composition -everything just 'works' A great gallery of paintings Stephen. Will be watching out for more postings!

Jane, not sure that thye uptake for the Waterfront is very good due to the economic climate, but will keep you in mind if anything further occurs.x

Jane,thanks for your kind comment

This is a painting lesson in itself - the touches of pure blue in the cliffs; the blue reflections in the sea at the shore, but the sea-green further out; touches of violet in the foreground linking to the further cliffs, and the underpainting showing through in places, warming the picture; and those touches of light at the lip of the cliff, where you've avoided the mistake of carrying them through the whole rim .... I should love to see you paint! There's a strong hint of yellow in your clouds, which contribute to the effect Fred refers to above; I've been wondering what it is ... Indian Yellow was my first thought: but I've been painting long enough to know that it's not the colour you use, but the way you use it, that makes the real difference. Even so: I'd still like to know!

Thank you Robert.Mainly Naples yellow for the clouds, there is some Indian Yellow in the cliffs with some cadmium orange and yellow ochre.

Jane Adams, Waterfront are rescheduling the course for the weekend 19th November, they will probably email you.
