Love it, Stephen.

Many thanks Shirley.

Very relaxing, Stephen, I love this sort of place and lament their passing. That's progression, I suppose, and economics. That lone bird is a delicate touch. Lovely. Brian

Very good indeed Stephen love those distant trees.

Nice painting Stephen I like the dark boat it leads the eye into the picture

My eye goes straight to that lovely patch of sunlight. There's a mellow, peaceful feel to this, I suppose it's a feeling of some memory from the past. Like the softness of it Stephen.

Very chilled. Nice light in this.

Very many thanks everyone, your comments are very encouraging to me. The dark shape in the mid distance does look like a boat but is actually a dort of stone jetty where the canal boats used to unload / load goods, presumably cotton, it's a very peaceful spot now but must have been a hive of industry a hundred years ago. As Brian says we have to be realistic about the economics of preserving the past, it does seem a pity though to see local history ignored.

Nice piece of work Stephen, well painted.

Smooth and easy feel to this Stephen.

Beautiful wet into wet trees Stephen, shame such a lovely place in not being looked after.

Many thanks Fiona, George and Barry for your encouragement.

You are quite right. They don't! Lovely Autumn feel about this one Stephen and a lovely view spoiled as always.

Many thanks Dorothy.

From an old photo of the Hollinwood Branch Canal at Daisy Nook, Tameside. Sadly the tree was felled some years ago and the canal is much overgrown now, these Councils never think of us poor artists!

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
